It is officially Fall which means that the cooler weather is rolling in and we want to spend more time snuggling under our quilts rather than making them. This also means it the perfect time to pull out your hand and slow stitching projects. In Issue 8 of Modish Quilter we’re exploring all things slow stitching. Take a peek at what we have inside the issue.
Diamond Haze
You know Modish Quilter loves a good ombre quilt pattern and we could resist applying the technique to our latest quilt pattern. Diamond Haze is a Modish Quilter Original Pattern that includes instructions for throw and queen size. If ombre isn’t your thing, we’ve got you covered and included a two tone version as well. Diamond Haze is a beginner friendly strips pattern that reminds us of the chunky stitches you can achieve with hand quilting.
Big Stitch
The Big Stitch quilt pattern by Shereece Spain of Sew Hooked on Treasures is a fast and beginner friendly pattern. We love that showcases the spirit of Big Stitch quilting, which is one of our favorite slow stitching techniques.
Sweet Tart
If you’re really ready to explore and play with color we’d recommend the Sweet Tart quilt pattern by Jennie Kay Noon of Jennie Kay Quilts. This confident beginner pattern uses 16 colors, offering you the opportunity to experiment with your color wheel. Jennie use Art Gallery Pure Solids to create an ombre from peach through oranges, and pinks, then all the way to dark purples and grey.
Infinity Mini EPP
Dive deep into the slow stitching with this Modish Quilter Original Pattern, Infinity. This is a mini English Paper Piecing (EPP) pattern for all you slow stitchers out there. If you’re looking for a fun challenge this is it! Infinity is an advanced 23 3/4″ X 23 3/4″ EPP pattern that will flex your skills in hand sewing curves.
is an intermediate pattern that will leverage your mini curve piecing skills. We love this quilt pattern for the unique shapes and movement in the design. This pattern is great is fun bold colors, but could also be used to create a fun kids race track quilt to play with their cars on. The possibilities are endless.
